Tags: driver | hardware | linux | MSI | netbook | rtl8187SE | wifi | wind While I'm still working on the writeup of our new MSi Wind laptop in the office, I've noticed that the RealTek 8187SE drivers appear to be a bit hard to find. The Debian packages that came up first don't work with WPA/WPA2 encrypted networks, this post attempts to correct that. Some of the fine folks of the Debian project have put together a write-up on getting and installing the RTL8187SE driver from RealTek as listed originally on a Ubuntu mailing list. If that's a little too round-about for you, you can go grab the driver directly here, read the original Debian site, or check out the Ubuntu bug listing. Note that the "driver directly" link brings you to a google code page, which looks to have a cleaned version of the latest driver release. All of the other sources look like they're either instructions, OS specific packages, or simply dated. There's also the option of querying RealTek directly for the driver. This appears to be where the various releases originated from although there didn't appear to be a driver available directly on their website as of this articles time of publishing.
