SSDs still have the same problem as the various flash cards you've got in your cameras in that they eventually suffer from bit-rot after sustained read/write I/O. But at this point it's starting to look more like a fair trade for a lack of moving parts to wear out with a bump in performance. Now for our contenders. At TweakTown they've benched the G.Skill FM-25S2 128GB running on an SATA-II interface. Performance is solid and with a price just south of 300$(USD) it looks like a good buy. Next up is the Silicon Power 32GB SSD, also running on an SATA-II bus. We would assume it's priced somewhere shy of 200$, but as availability seems to be low and there's no price given, you'll have to look for it yourself. Performance isn't up to the G.Skill's standards, but the SIlicon Power still phones in some impressive results. Weather they're another incremental addition to storage space or the next big thing remains to be seen. One thing we know for sure, though, is that barring massive failures SSDs are here to stay.
