Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition CPUs Released

Tags: Core i7 | hardware | Intel | review

Intel Core i7 LogosIntel's latest offering on the CPU scene, the Intel Core i7 series (website), looks like it's going to be a hit on the enthusiast market.  Aiming to take on AMD it tacks on an on-CPU memory controller, pretty much eviscerating the Athlon and Phenom's last advantage over Intel's lineup.

While price might be an initial factor (starting at just shy of 300$US) that'll no doubt be coming down over the next year.

Another big advantage of Intel's current platform offering is it's ability to use either ATI Crossfire or nVidia SLI multi-card GPUs.  Although who, short of GPU reviewers, switches back and forth between the platforms enough to make that a real advantage would be my question.

In any case you can check out the reviews at Over Clocker's Club, MadShrimps, Hot Hardware, TweakTown, NeoSeeker, and Benchmark Reviews.
